I had a vision of what I wanted my kitchen to look like...and this was definitely not it.  I adored the cabinet space (except the lack of a pantry and weird lazy susan), but it was dated with hideous wallpaper.  And yes, that is an organ in the kitchen.

It took me a LONG TIME to decide on a color that I liked with the yellow counter and backsplash, which I was being forced to keep.  We painted the cabinets with Behr Classic White and the walls are Behr Grass Cloth.  Added all new stainless steel appliances and new hardware to the cabinets.  Chuck installed a floating laminate over the existing floor.  Pardon the clutter; this was relatively soon after we moved in!  And honestly, I love the kitchen now! Someday we will replace the counter and backsplash, but it is definitely livable.
